The Challenge
A global HVAC manufacturer, operating six facilities in Monterrey, Mexico, dedicated itself to its corporate sustainability strategy by aiming to achieve zero-waste-to-landfill (ZWTL) status. The main challenge involved standardizing waste diversion practices, improving material recovery, and maintaining consistent performance across every facility, all while efficiently scaling operations.
The Solution
Envita Sustainability Solutions Mexico implemented a scalable ZWTL strategy across six facilities, standardizing operational processes, upgrading infrastructure, and engaging employees. The team improved waste segregation, qualified suppliers to maximize landfill diversion, and found innovative solutions for hard-to-recycle materials.
Through employee training, color‑coded management systems, and the installation of recycling stations, Envita ensured consistent execution across all locations. This integrated approach enabled the customer to successfully achieve ZWTL certification at all six facilities.
The Result
Envita helped the customer create a strong infrastructure supporting consistent diversion performance across 100 segregation team members, 9 forklifts, 1 tugger, 8 balers, 8 scales, and more than 500 collection containers. Improving the waste sorting and recycling infrastructure help them divert 10K+ tons of material from landfill and achieve ZWTL status across six facilities.
