The Challenge
A food manufacturer had an urgent need to dispose of a recalled product that was taking up valuable warehouse space across their network of 10 manufacturing and distribution facilities in the U.S. and Canada. This recall included more than 35,000 tons (70 million pounds) of material.
The Solution
Envita Solutions oversaw the packaging, loading, transportation, disposal, reporting and compliance of this project. Envita worked with each of the 10 locations to determine the equipment and personnel needs based on volume, space, timing, and available outlets. Our data system was extremely valuable in bringing visibility to various groups within the customer’s organization that required access.
By partnering with Envita, our customer received a dedicated Project Manager that created a timeline of events for each facility and kept all parties on task while gathering necessary documentation from subcontractors to ensure overall compliance.
The Result
The company completed one of the largest product recalls in recent history ahead of schedule, ensuring the swift removal of recalled products from warehouse space. To minimize the threat of ongoing liability, comprehensive documentation support was provided, along with data tracking, logistics, and labor support to maintain efficiency and oversight.
