The Challenge
At a customer facility, several gaylord boxes of wooden 2×4 blocks with nails had accumulated from receiving raw materials. This global HVAC manufacturer and distributor needed a way to recycle this waste to maintain their zero-waste-to-landfill (ZWLF) status.
The Solution
After speaking with many suppliers who could not process the wood with nails, the Envita Solutions team found a partner who could help. The supplier offered a non-landfill solution that could process the wood despite the metal contamination turning it into a mulch product.
The Result
Envita identified a qualified supplier partner to process contaminated waste, ensuring the material could be reused to create additional products. This initiative allowed the customer to maintain its zero-waste-to-landfill status while successfully diverting nearly two tons of material from landfills, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and resource efficiency.
