The Challenge
A global engine manufacturer was undergoing a major blockline expansion at one of its facilities, resulting in a significant rise in industrial waste generation. The increased material volume created both operational and sustainability challenges, as the existing processes were not equipped to handle and redirect the additional waste from landfills. The company needed a scalable, circular approach that could accommodate the expansion while maintaining its environmental commitments.
The Solution
Envita Solutions conducted targeted waste audits and identified new recycling options capable of handling the diverse materials produced by the expansion. Working directly with facility teams, Envita built an integrated waste-handling process that redirected materials previously sent to landfills toward recycling or reuse. The project also included improvements to the onsite wastewater treatment facility and the installation of the appropriate recycling equipment for long-term sustainability. Envita’s supplier partnerships, including a preferred fiber recycler and a strong equipment-leasing network, ensured the manufacturer received best-in-market rebates and had access to the necessary infrastructure to maintain high diversion rates.
The Result
By partnering with Envita, our customer enhanced alignment with sustainability and landfill-reduction goals, diverted 4,000 tons of material from landfill annually, expanded their recycled waste by more than 80% and, created $150,000 in transportation cost savings.
