The Challenge
A multinational automotive manufacturer focused on reducing its carbon footprint and implementing environmentally friendly practices, wanted to find an alternative to single-use absorbents.
The Solution
Envita Solutions identified a way to extend the life cycle of absorbent cloths used to clean machinery at the plant. Working with a trusted supplier partner, Envita implemented an absorbent laundering pilot program. The absorbents and fluid extracted from the absorbents will be reused diverting both waste streams from landfill. Our customer is excited about how this program will improve their sustainability efforts and use of the laundered absorbents is embraced by their employees. With an estimated cost savings of over $10K, the program provides added value in addition to landfill diversion.
Sharing best practices internally, this solution has been implemented by other Envita teams with their customers to provide more sustainable solutions and generate cost savings.
The Result
The diversion of two waste streams, combined with the effective reuse of materials, led to improved operational efficiency for the company. These initiatives resulted in an estimated cost savings of $10,000.
